I love this calendar! My friend bought this for me for Christmas and it's so beautiful and amazing that it brings joyful tears to my eyes! I love the images and the informative blurbs and also space, because space is breathtaking and awe-inspiring and I thoroughly appreciate being reminded of how amazing it and my friend are every day!

I love love love this calendar - the images are crisp and the accompanying text is super engaging. A lovely stocking stuffer for this Christmas season.

Beautiful calendar, but the pages act like carbon paper, so if you write on it, it goes to the page behind it also. HORRIBLE.

What scenes!. Art and technology combine. Truly out of this world pictures.

I love this calender. ONLY complaint is if the 1st of the month is a Wednesday, it doesn't show a faded 29,30,31 or whatever. last month has no mention which is hard for my purpose, otherwise great. Would buy again

The photos in this calendar are breathtaking.

This calendar was a great addition to my home office wall!

beautiful monthly photos. my son loves it.

Review

Praise for Not Fade Away"A remarkable story of resilience and heart, Not Fade Away follows Rebecca Alexander as she must navigate the world cursed with a rare genetic disorder that will one day rob her of both sight and hearing. Bereft of self-pity, funny, and bursting with honesty, Not Fade Away will get its hooks in you. I promise that by the end of her story, you will fall just as in love with Rebecca as I have."—Susannah Cahalan, New York Times bestselling author of Brain on Fire "Her eyes and ears may be declining, but Rebecca's sense of self is sharply  focused and profoundly tuned. By sharing her life, she has enriched mine and will yours, too. I love this woman."—Meredith Vieira "There  is a saying that goes—you never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.  Rebecca Alexander's indomitable spirit spills out on to the pages of this incredible memoir.  She will lift you up...the way she did for me."—Hoda Kotb, New York Times bestselling author of Ten Years Later and Hoda, and Emmy-award-winning anchor of the Today show“An honest and eloquent look at life … Alexander emphasized the importance of embracing the here and now, of being present and grateful for the gift of life, in whatever shape it might take.”—Kirkus Reviews“Profoundly inspiring … [Rebecca’s] ability to find so much to be grateful for after being dealt such an unfair hand challenges those of us with far fewer hardships to treat each day as a gift.”—Publishers Weekly“Wise and realistic instruction in intentional living, grace, and overcoming obstacles great and small.”—Booklist

Having the privilege of knowing author Rebecca, I could write for hours about her perseverance, how inspiring and strong she is and how to me she is essentially a superhero. But none of these things, (as related to her disabilities) define who she is for even a minute, nor do they define this book. What starts as a truly unique couldn't write this sh*t if you tried kind of story, quickly reveals itself to be full of humor, humanity and the universal truths and questions we all face. I felt as if I was sitting across from Rebecca being happily bombarded by her contagious humor and zest for life. Her personality, honesty and relatable experiences jump off each page, prompting the reader to consider not only their own blessings and challenges, but the larger questions about being the best friends, sisters/brothers, lovers and people we can be.We all stand to learn so much from those like Rebecca who are brave enough not only to live life SO large but also to share each moment so honestly with the world. Every anecdote in this book is a reminder of how adaptable, resilient and downright loving we can all choose to be when given the choice. Not a light read to be sure, but as only Rebecca can, this book takes the scariest and loneliest aspects of our lives and creates space for laughter, love and hope. A GREAT read.

I can relate to Rebecca’s dread of getting her vision tests, knowing already what they will say: “your vision has gotten worse again.” From about the age of 5 to 35, I dreaded the eye doctor because I always got the same news: “your vision has gotten worse again, here are thicker glasses and stronger, less bearable, contact lenses for you to endure. Have a nice day!” Even though they never told me I was going blind, I certainly seemed to be in the express lane for it. Because of that, I have always been fascinated by other people’s stories of vision loss or of blind people, I guess because someday I figured I could very well be among them, at the rate I was going.I read this book expecting a story of what it would be like to find out you are going blind and deaf, but what I got was so much more. What I found was not really a story of coping with disabilities, but more a story of living life to the fullest, regardless of your circumstances. Rebecca is funny, intelligent, compassionate, and extremely athletic; accomplishing things already that most fully able-bodied people never even come close to achieving in their lives. I have no doubt, given her strong network of family and friends, and her amazing perspective and perseverance, that she will continue to thrive, no matter what path her eyes and ears decide to go down.Truly a remarkable woman and I thank her for this uplifting read and wish her the very best, if she ever reads this! Highly recommended!

Rebecca Alexander's "Not Fade Away" is a journey that's filled with a full range of emotions from sad and shocking to funny and hopeful. At 19, she received the news that she had Usher Syndrome Type III. It's a rare genetic mutation with profound consequences--loss of sight and sound. But, even at 12, when an ophthalmologist told her parents she would need a guide dog by 20, Rebecca never simply gave in to the diagnosis at hand. Along the journey, we see the familiar life of many teenagers including possibly ourselves. From her parents' divorce to her first romance to moving far away for college, so many events in this young life ring true. And she manages to give us a valuable insight into a world that so few of us understand. As a child, I recall a bizarre conversation that seems more common now than I realized. I was asked if I had to lose one thing, sight or sound, which would it be? Rebecca never had the choice. Yet, she takes the most out of life she can and truly practices the concept of Carpe diem-Seize the day!Above all, Rebecca Alexander's book left me feeling more humble than I could imagine. But, it also left me with such a wonderful feeling of hope. It's a wonderful book to read and share. Of all the books I have read over this past year, Not Fade Away ranks at the top!

Great read, heartwarming and inspirational. Rebecca draws you into her life, her friends, her family and by the time you're done, you feel like you are part of her big, warm, supportive network. I was a little apprehensive starting the book, preparing to read about some very difficult challenges for this young vibrant woman, but instead, I walked away awed and inspired by how Rebecca turns thoughts of pity to admiration for how she has chosen to live life to it's fullest, choosing to celebrate everything she does have rather than what she has lost!

This autobiography is about a truly an unbelievable courageous young woman informing us from her first diagnosis of a genetic disease which will probably result in another Helen Keller! Even though she learns of her disease at a early age, she is going through life, as we speak, continuing to live as a "healthy' professional. I could not put the book down to learn of what was going to transpire next in her life.

Reading Rebecca Alexander's memoir is like listening to a good friend confide what it is like to gradually lose sight and hearing. As she goes through the progression of how her syndrome effects her body and her life, she lets you in on the ups and downs of her journey without pretense. Rebecca's voice is honest, courageous, funny and inspiring. I loved her descriptions of the many physical challenges she decides to take on and how she is able to harness enduring strength, even as other parts of her body are becoming weaker. A joy to read.

#3 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

A real page-turner, this debut novel by Jacqueline Friedland was absolutely incredible! It was impeccably researched and the protagonist, Abigail (Abby) Minton, takes the reader on her journey from England in 1845 for a better life with her family friend, Douglas Middleton, a wealthy British expat who runs a shipping company in Charleston, South Carolina. Unlike most others in Charleston, Douglas doesn't own any slaves, and it's immediately apparent to the reader that he's an abolitionist. This choice, however noble, cost him the lives of his wife and young daughter in a fire two years prior to Abby's arrival. When Abby begins showing an interest in abolitionists activities, Douglas does everything he can to prevent further tragedy, especially as his feelings for Abby turn towards love.

I could not put this book down and was sad when it was over. Friedland's use of language is simply equisite and her ability to paint vivid images in her readers' minds is astounding. An incredibly well researched historical fiction novel that takes you to Charleston, South Carolina in the pre- civil war era , brings you on a journey of suspense, intrigue, love and friendship with many twists and turns along the way. An ugly time in american history is so beautifully portrayed with moral conflict oozing out of every nook and cranny.Friedland's ability to illuminate the internal dialogue going on inside each character's mind makes you truly care for the characters. I cannot wait to read more from this author. I highly recommend this book. You will not put it down!

I really enjoyed this book! Story is about a young woman who has been abused by her uncle and afraid to tell her family because this uncle helps support her family. Her family decides to send her to Charleston (they live in England) to live with a family friend, The family friend is a young man of wealth who lost both his wife and daughter in a fire due to his being a suspected abolitionist. So he and this young woman both have an angry outlook on life. So it's Charleston steeped in slavery, wealthy plantation owners and their wives and daughters. Then we have others trying to do the right thing, underground railroad. Romance finds it's way but can she overcome her mistrust in men and can he get over the loss of his family for doing something he strongly believes in?

I truly anticipated that this book was more about the underground railroad, slavery, and life in the antebellum South than it was. As a romance novel, it is what I consider an average to above average read. Nothing against the book just not quite what I was expecting.

I truly could not put down this book and I read it in one day!I was looking for a book about Charleston during the 1800s to cement what I had learned while on a recent weekend visit there. Whether you have been to Charleston or not, this book describes in just the right amount of detail, the life of Charleston society and the slaves that kept that society going. Romance and abolitionism come together for a gripping tale that will leave the reader informed and appreciative of the people who, in this context and others, risked their own lives and those of their families, to help those less fortunate than them.

Ms. Friedland has created a story which brings you back to a time in American History where there was true moral conflict between those who not only relied on slavery, but who believed in its place in society, and those who could not fathom ownership of another human being. The characters seemed familiar, and the story truly imaginable, but not ever told quite this way. I thought of Roots, Gone With The Wind, and even the recent Underground Railroad as I read this new and wonderfully written story. I highly recommend Trouble The Water

Didn’t care much for this book. The words and expressions used didn’t seem true to the period. Outcome was predictable.

I loved this book from the first page to the last. The descriptive language and riveting storyline grabs your attention and draws you in immediately. An incredibly well researched novel. you feel as though you're living in Charleston in the mid 1800's. Amidst the time of slavery, a hideous part of our nation's history, Ms. Friedland manages to illustrate the goodness and strong character of a devoted underground abolitionist movement while alternatively weaving in a love story with its own twists and turns. This is a fast paced and hearty novel that will keep you engrossed the whole way through!
