I've had a recent diagnosis of Gluten Intolerance and I was looking for a good book to teach me what I need to know to avoid wheat. I was completely overwhelmed with all the choices of books on "Gluten Free" living. However, having had excellent luck with other "Dummies" Books, I decided to get this one. I am SO glad I did!This book is totally comprehensive. It covers everything from getting the diagnosis to recognizing covert gluten ingredients to how to change your favorite recipes to make them gluten free and so much more.I expected to need to buy another book or two after this one to get a complete education on gluten free living, but now I don't need to - this book really taught me everything I needed to know.It is kind of scary to find out you have to stop eating wheat for the rest of your life - it can seem so overwhelming because wheat feels like it is in EVERYTHING at times. This book broke it down and made the lifestyle MUCH more managable for me.She also has a really good chapter on dealing with negative feelings regarding this kind of diagnosis. I have not dealt with the negative feelings she describes [my health has improved SO vastly that I can honestly say I don't miss wheat at all!], but I think that chapter would be incredibly helpful for people who ARE struggling with their diagnosis.The other thing I loved about this book is that it is so readable. The author is a great writer - she is witty, she includes little anecdotes from her life to help you understand what she's teaching, and the book is really entertaining to read. I was very afraid that it might be dry and "medical text book" type reading, but it is not at all. It is a fun, enjoyable read.I have already loaned out my copy of this to one gluten intolerant friend and I've purchased a second copy and given it to another friend who was recently diagnosed with Celiac. From now on, this book will be my go-to gift for all friends dealing with any gluten related illness. It is so helpful!Thank you for writing this book Ms. Korn! You have helped me and my family so incredibly much!

Excellent book. Have been gluten free for five years and recommend this to anyone who wants to know where to start on the transition. The author provides insight to where gluten hides under other names beside wheat, rye and barley The author has a great sense of humor!

I am relatively new to a gluten free diet. My doctor suggested gluten free and gave me a list of foods that were allowable but I needed more information. Living Gluten-Free for Dummies is a great educational resource and helped me tremendously. As I have learned gluten is in so many items (and not just foods) so knowing how to read labels and ingredients to look for that mask gluten under another name is very important. This book helps with all of this. Gluten-Free Cooking For... is wonderful! I use this book almost daily. I love the recipes and it has great suggestions for snacks and many other quick solutions so you don't eat something you should avoid. All the recipes I have tried so far have been great.

Excellent book! Great all-around resource for understanding what gluten is and how to avoid it. Recipes, shopping tips, advice on eating out, plus so much more. I thought I'd have to buy several books on how to live gluten-free, but this one book does it all. Highly recommend.

I just found out that I have developed gluten sensitivity and this book helped me understand what that means. It starts with teaching you what gluten is, what it does, how to look for it in foods, and how to manage living without it. Well written, it really helped me to understand what I can and can't eat and how to read labels for those foods not clearly marked. I can now stop moaning about not being able to eat breads and pasta anymore, and learn to make them from scratch using gluten free products. Buying this book first would have saved me hours of internet research into gluten free living.

Don't let the "For Dummies" moniker fool you. Typically, you find so much mis-information online and in other published books relating to gluten-free advice, it's refreshing to read such a well-researched, vibrant, accurate, and, dare I say, inspiring game plan for embarking on a lifelong gluten-free journey. No stone is left unturned, and many myths are dispelled - with an ample dose of wit and humor.Most gluten-free books are clinical, boring, and dry. This one is fun, whimsical, positive, and energetic. You feel like the author is truly optimistic about the gluten-free diet being the key to optimal health. No gf book I've read paints such an accurate, in-depth and rosy picture.

An excellent overall introduction to libertarian ideas. Despite what some folks might tell you, libertarian ideas are directly applicable to the complex issues that our society is facing. Boaz, while occasionally a little dry, does an excellent job of explaining libertarian ideas, their development through history and how they can be applied today in our Western society. Maybe you don't agree with libertarianism for one reason or another. This book might or might not persuade you, but don't rely on the oversimplified (and often strawman) arguments you may have heard against libertarianism. Read this book and find out what libertarian ideas actually are and how many libertarians would like to see them applied. If you're already libertarian or leaning libertarian, read this book and get a secure footing in the ideas of liberty and human rights.

David Boaz takes on libertarianism, linking its roots in the earliest thoughts of Lao Tzu, taking it through an investigation of John Locke, Adam Smith, and the Enlightenment and developing the theme of liberty in pretty much every relevant domain of political and social impact.All that being said, this "Manifesto for Freedom" is a primer for freedom. Do not expect in-depth discussions of your favorite libertarians (be it Hayek, Paul or Rand), though expect liberal mentions.All in all, Boaz writes a clear introduction to what should not be radical, but nevertheless is: that liberty is vastly important, unfortunately understated and is the key to prospering, advancing society.

It explains libertarianism in a simple, straightforward way. The book doesn't pander left, right, up, or down. I consider it to be fair. I would highly recommend.

Although the book may gain some converts to the libertarian cause, it's greater value is that even readers who are less than fully convinced or who remain adamantly opposed, will at least be able to address their arguments to real libertarian ideals rather than the straw men too often put forward by those who do not understand or deliberately misrepresent libertarianism.

This book is a great overview of Libertarianism and how this view improves everyone's lives. Hitting almost every issue and topic you can think of, the author clearly articulated the arguments, logic, pragmatism and benefits of a Libertarian viewpoint of individual liberty and respect for others. Great read, learned a lot, and am now better equipped to defend and advocate for the Liberty movement.

Should be called Mind Blowing instead. Proves there are workable answers to societies' most complex problems while respecting human rights and dignity.

I am placing two ratings for this slow cooker cookbook. 1. I ordered two of these slow cooker cookbooks from two different vendors and both arrived about a week early. Wow what can I say other than I would give them both 10 stars. 2. I have just glanced over a copy of this cookbook and find just what I like and needed. I like the way the recipes are placed and so far they sound pretty good -- I just received the cookbook yesterday - - and I wish that a lot of cookbooks would place the recipes like this. Some people who reviewed this cookbook complain that the same recipes with minor changes were placed here and there in the book but I have not found that yet but it would make no difference to me. This is my first Phyllis Good cookbook and I have now picked out several others that I want. I am buying two at a time, one for me and one for my son and his wife who have never used a slow cooker before. I am thinking of getting a third for my 93 year old mother who has never used a slow cooker until I got her one for Christmas and then I had to show her how to use it. I see the layout of this book is like I like and the print is fairly decent and large and black. Did you hear me I said the print is black. Some of the new cookbooks the printing is small and light blue or tan and or light green and they are very hard to read. Apparently they are not taking into consideration the generation is getting older and that includes me, I am 73 and finding reading is sadly becoming more difficult. I give this book 10 stars. I also like to make a big meal in the crock pot and package up portions to eat during the week for either lunch or dinner. I bought the Fix It and Forget It Cookbook hoping to get some inspiration for a wide variety of meals. This book definitely gave me that. It has several hundred recipes, divided into chicken, beef, ham, etc. There is a recipe for everyone in this book. Quite a few do call for ingredients such as Velveeta cheese or one of the cream soups (cream of chicken, cream of celery, etc.), but fortunately, I happen to like those things and think they go a long way toward adding flavor to a meal. The other ingredients are generally inexpensive as well, and I like that all of them have just five ingredients. This book is a good way to either get more meal inspiration or to save time in the kitchen. I highly recommend it!

Finally easy recipes without a slew of never before heard of ingredients! Just what the single person who wants to eat healthily and inexpensively needs! I bought the book form which is great for browsing, cooking, and exploring. I'd like to have the Kindle version too for ingredient shopping. This is a perfect example of where the Kindle MatchBook program would excel! Please add it!

I was given this as a gift and can't tell you how many times I've used it. It is the reason I use my crock pot so often. There are so many different suggestions in here that you can find almost any type of food. I actually bought this as a gift for a "non-cook" because it is simple to use and gives good recipes.

Love the 5 ingredients recipes! I use my slow cooker because as a single mom who works 40hrs. A week I don't have the time or energy sometimes to make a nice meal...and I don't want to revert to fast food, so whenever I can throw a few ingredients in my cooker and have dinner ready when I get home, that's a win win for me!

Great book. I love the fact that there are soooo many recipes to make with only 5 ingredients. Have tried several and all have tasted great. There are so many more to try. AND I love it that all can be cooked in a slow cooker---saves lots of time for me. Thank you

I got this book along with “Net oF Beimg” for my boyfriend on our anniversary, I am so excited. As I stated in my review for that book, I just went through and placed sticky notes within the pages of art that means something to us personally. This book has information on Tool as well which is an added bonus!

I really thought there would be a lot more artwork in this book but there isn't much. Mostly it's descriptions of the meaning of the art, what inspired it, where it's currently displayed, etc... I thought this book was basically like a coffee table book - just photographs of art. I was tad disappointed when I discovered there weren't many photos.

My husband is hard to shop for. He doesn't make lists and doesn't ask for anything. He loves the band "Tool" and had showed me the artwork they included in liner notes and for merch. I looked up the artist and purchased this book for him. He never reads unless its on his phone and in had a good time watching him sit on the porch with a book. He really enjoyed admiring the artwork in this book and we keep it out as a coffee table book now, too. Beautiful works of art that are great conversation starters. If you have kids around and they happen to take a peek, be prepared to hear giggles over the anatomy drawings. ;)

I was a bit surprised to find that this was a fairly random collection of art from this artist. Commentators made some attempt to bring some coherence to the collection, but it felt like quite a reach. Out of the collection, only about 6 of the works felt like they were truly elevated. The rest just felt like quirky dabbling in one technique after another. But those 6 works certainly warrant at least 3 stars.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful book! Not much more to say here... A gorgeous display of a genius artist. I ended up writing one of the quotes from this book on the chalk board wall in my house. My five year old son loves to look at the artwork in this book and I can explain things to him on a higher level while he can look at a gorgeous depiction of a very complex concept. This is not a book for children, however... Supervision is most definitely advised!

This is the most amazing art book. In the central part of the book, Alex Grey presents the human being layer by layer. Starting with the skeleton, he adds the nervous & circulatory systems, the viscera, the musculature, and finally the skin. Materialist would stop there. But Alex Grey has the eyes of a mystic, and continues to depict the etheric & energetic components of humanity, right up to the Void of pure consciousness. He also includes deities from east & west, showing that they too "mirror" what we are in our depths. Many of the later frames are suitable as objects of meditation. The most talented energy-healer I know seems to know everything about people just by looking at them, and she says what she sees is what Alex Grey paints. This book contains art that can put a person in touch with her deepest and noblest possibilities. This book is nothing less than a gift to the human race!

For many years as an artist I have studied Alex's art and although I do not agree with everything he puts forth along with his art - this book is a classic. Very few have the type of insights he has and fewer the ability to put meaning into their artwork showing a greater picture than the art alone. It is no wonder why many musicians and artists enjoy what he has produced and continues to create. There really is something for every artist or creative soul to enjoy in this book. It is a great value for what he gives.

I always wanted an Alex Grey book. I seem to end up at the book store often whist tagging along. I don't purchase much from pshysical stores. Prices are always better on the internet. Whenever I'm in the book store I will stare at some pretty interesting books for hours. Once in a while there will be some that stick out and I just can't stop thinking about it!!!! I purchased this off Amazon while I was drunk hehehehe *red face* I'm absolutely so happy that I did. This book is one in which...I can look at...over and over and over and over and over. I now plan to buy a few more with his work.

I studied Spanish in school and the stories in this book are an entertaining way to refresh rather than just reviewing vocabulary lists or verb conjugation charts. The one small change I’d make is putting the key vocabulary words before the story but otherwise this is an excellent option for someone attempting to brush up on the language.

I decided to buy this book to brush up on my Spanish since I haven't studied it in a long time and I still consider myself to be a beginner to the language. The book itself is fairly simple for beginners and it has a glossary after each story for complex vocabulary. However, I would not recommend this book for complete beginners, as not all the words in the stories are translated. If anything, it is helpful for those studying Spanish already and need an extra studying boost. Otherwise, this book is great for those willing to study Spanish!

The book contains a total of ten short stories that revolve around daily themes that are in Spanish as well as English. This book gives us an effective way of pronunciation as well as an English glossary in case if we do not know the meaning of such words. Each chapter contains a quiz that summarizes the story that you have read. Afterwards, the book gives you a summary that you can compare with your own understanding of the short stores. Spanish will honestly help me out the most in a few of my careers and the customer service job I have, so brushing up on even the basics is a good idea. Reading through this book I can tell it has multiple levels of handle on the language in mind as it breaks down some phrases and words in between the stories and teaching sections.Honestly, if you're looking to learn a language I would suggest this book simply because not only are the illustrations cute but if you somewhat think of it like a Spanish to english dictonary in a sense that you'd want to reference it and read through some of it to understand what you're hearing, so I personally feel it'd benefit anyone looking to learn spanish or if you already know a bit it doesn't hurt to read the short stories inside of it, they're all really cute actually. This was the 4th ebook I tried out and to be perfectly honest, this one was a lot easier to understand and the formatting was very easy on the eyes. The way they broke it down during each section and sewn the english and spanish together really helps you stay on your toes and prevents you from going too long without actually learning something, which is far better than some ebooks that dedicated most of it to the language (in this case spanish) and not really give you a helping hand by explaining in english or giving you a quick run down in english and spanish.If I had any cons about this product, it would be the the thematic length of some stories. It's not too long or too short, but some times when you're getting into a story it ends abruptly, so if I could offer any criticism, it would be to format some of the stories better so it follows an overall theme so you're not hopping around too much, it can get overwhelming but overall a fantastic book, especially in ebook form.

I have always wanted a thorough understanding of, at least, conversational Spanish but the last time I studied spanish was in middle school. Several years later I am very much out of practice. This book makes it easy to pick up right from where I left off. The book reminds me of the verbs and such that I learned in school and also introduces new vocabulary and uses it in real dialogue. My favorite feature is the audio, after I studied the vocabulary, I used the audio to speak the language at a more regular pace. I believe this is a great book for a low-intermediate user, meaning you probably should know some Spanish before you start this book.

A continuation of the PJ series, with additional characters that are really beginning to flesh out nicely and become interesting on their own. An excellent series by Riordan, for all young adults.

I think this is the best book in this Heroes of Olympus series so far.All emotions, all tension , (almost) all expectations and thrills and drama are included in this one.I almost forgot to breathe myself.The story took you to the peak position and keep you there, it's really wonderful.Since My favourite character always be Percy, I'm so thrilled that he had a chance to take a tour in Tartarus..(^_-)-☆Because after all, he had already met and negotiated and fight with nearly most of the gods and Titans on the land, I thought it must be a good experience for him to challenge the big boss of Tartarus to enhance his power, and utilize it when the time comes.All the chapters about his and Annabeth in Tartarus journey were so good.And I'm so glad I had a chance to meet Bob, Small Bob and Damasen.Especially Bob.He was so sweet, so gentle and a very wonderful character.His word 'say hello to the stars for me' was so powerful it still makes my eyes full of tears and squeeze my chest so tightly every time I thought about this book, even after more than a month since I finished it.You will love Bob and small Bob so dearly, I guarantee you.Anyway, cause I wrote this review after I finished all the books in this series, and because this 4th book is really great as I told you, I don't know whether I should make some caution for you to not expecting much for the next (final) book or not.Of course, you've come this far you should finish it for good, but some times I wondered it might be better if I had stopped reading at this book and let my imagination end the series.Especially if you are Percy Jackson's fan like me.

I read this book as a college student and loved it. Being meant for young adults, the writing is pretty easy which makes it a quick read. However, the story is great! I've always enjoyed Greek mythology from my youth and was stoked when the the original Percy Jackson series came out. I personally enjoy this second series more because it includes both Roman and Greek mythology.One of my favorite parts about this series is that there is an Asian character as one of the main characters. He's not the stereotypical, nerdy Asian. He's a complete boss with awesome powers. He is so awesome that he is given a huge weakness to make things fair for the others.Most fictional books I have read very rarely incorporate races other than white as the main characters. Even if they are, they are often side, very minimal characters to the point where they can be killed off. (Except for Minho in the maze runner! Which is another interesting read btw). Here we have, Leo Valdez (Hispanic), Frank Zhang (Canadian/Chinese), and Hazel Levesque (African American). None of them die! They are all super important characters and each have a unique personality that many young adults can relate to.Overall, I think this is a great book which is a part of a great series! I look forward to more of Riordans work!

As we all know Riordan is an INCREDIBLE author. I read the olympians series as a beginning 5th grader and now I'm going in to 6th grade and I'm still reading it! My dad would get mad at me for not doing my homework first and just read read read. I would sleep at 11 instead of 9 and set an alarm to 6 just so I could read. This book I would give 999999 stars but I can only give 5. Bob was one of the best characters I feel like and I wish the series could go on forever! I recommend this for ages 10 and up unless ur a gifted reader like me, them read it in 4th grade. I never realized how good Riordan was until I had no books to read and finally decided to pick up the lightning thief. I was blown away and would not put the book down. My son and I both are reading this series. We have enjoyed following Percy Jackson and his friends from the beginning. Rick Riordan does a fabulous job in his writing. I imagine it's a little more difficult keeping a younger mind's attention, but his style is funny and humorous and reads just the way my son sounds when he describes his crazy ideas. I mostly read it to make sure that my son's book reports are accurate, but I do find myself wanting to know what's going to happen next in Percy's life. I think we will both be sad when Percy's story ends.
