Green Smoothies for Life ...by JJ Smith is a nice small and compact Cookbook one can easily hold in one hand. I thought it was large, but I was totally surprised at how small, non intrusive and lightweight it is! It has various Recipes from Smoothies, to Snacks, to Entrees that are not to much for people like me who hate the kitchen, but love to EAT! I'm totally happy I purchased this book!

I completed JJ Smith's 10 day cleanse successfully. I then segued into this book--30 day Green Smoothies for Life and pretty much followed it to the letter. My advice to the critics is, before you embark upon this plan, know and understand what you are doing and what it means to you. Number one--it is not a diet!! The 10 day book is meant to cleanse/detox--to rid your body of all the gunk, the junk, the cravings and be a re-setting of a new way of eating--for life! The 30 day book is to get you in the habit of making and incorporating the green smoothies as part of a new healthy way of living. So when you start out you need to have goals for yourself-- for when you get to "the other side." If you have no purpose--or at least a clear understanding of one, you will become frustrated, make excuses, cheat, falter and fail. The expectations can't come from the book or the author --it must come from within. For me, I am a student of the healthy lifestyle, but being human--I have backslid. I used the book to re-set, re-think and re-establish the healthy way I want to look, feel and be. The 40 days gave me time to assess how my body felt without eating the bad stuff and the difference and changes I began to experience with consuming only the good stuff. What does my body want? What is it asking for? What does it need?? I learned that my body feels and looks best when I am eating a majority plant-based diet. I have not yet committed to being either vegan or vegetarian, but I'm going to start with at least a 90% plant-based diet. I will give my body what it needs and what it asks for---not what my eyes want. As I approach the last few days of the 30 day book, I am looking forward to adopting one green smoothie as a meal replacement per day indefinitely. I've made it work for me and it fits my lifestyle. I hope this is helpful to those who are considering this plan as well as for those who may have tried it and did not find success. It can work--but only if You work it!

I love these smoothies! I did the 10 day and lost 19lbs. I drink one for breakfast every morning and I am down 40lbs since the end of feburary!

JJ is AMAZING!! I have to admit when I started on this journey it was difficult to say the least. I first bought the 10-day green smoothie cleanse which WORKED!!!! JJ was correct when she said the first couple of days would be difficult. I experienced nausea, headaches and a lot of ANGER but all of that was worth it when those 10 days were over. I lost 9 pounds by doing the modified cleanse. THIS book Green Smoothies for Life is sooooooooo much better. This book allows you to make a total life changing experience. There are recipes for all three meals a day PLUS freakin' desserts y'all. Yes, I said desserts. This is something anybody can do for the rest of their lives and not just a few days at a time. I'm encouraging anyone to buy this book and use it. You will NOT be disappointed. I've been overweight for most of my life and am now suffering with some health problems because of my weight. JJ's books are helping me become a healthier version of myself. Get this book NOW. You can do it just believe in yourself. Good Luck to ALL!!!

One of the best healthy cooking books I have ever owned.I was attracted to the book because of the smoothie recipes but I found that the meals were the real hidden gem of this book. Simple to make dinners, easy to follow and doesn't require anything unusual. I lost 8 pounds just by going through all the recipes in order. It also changed the base foods I ate and how I cook. Meal planning is now habitual. We used the book almost exclusively for 3 months before looking for more/similar recipes.This is not a negative caveat, but it should be noted that my digestive system changed a LOT over the month. It definitely cleans out your system rapidly, and then it stabilizes after a while. ( I know its gross to talk about stool, but it is part of the process and I'm healthier for it.)

I absolutely love this book. The recipes are easy and delicious. This plan leaves no room to say you're too busy for a healthy life. JJ Smith has created a healthy lifestyle for the single mom/ dad, the busy family, or someone that feels they just don't have time. Now you do! 😊

Practical tips to help you become a better programmer. Even better if you're using Ruby. :)IMO there is a real void when it comes to books on Ruby programming. ok, I understand the language. But how do I actually write good object-oriented programs using Ruby? This book answers some of those questions. Well worth the cost and the effort to read it. It will stay on my shelf at home as a welcome reference rather than my shelves at work where just anyone could walk off with it. They will just have to buy their own copy.

Awesome book for any Ruby programmer. It goes from very basic until advanced level in a very nice pace (which makes it very easy to read) and it has the bonus of explaining how the GC works and why you should care about it. It changed how I think and write Ruby code on daily basis for sure a must read.

I've read a lot of books about Ruby, and I was a little bit concerned - whether I really need another one. As I like the idea of "Effective" series, I decided to give it a try. Bingo!Concise, insightful, and fun to read - I really like it!

There are only a handful of Ruby books that focus on rounding out the general knowledge of intermediate Rubyists, and this is the latest entry to that group. Effective Ruby is split up into 48 "items" which cover things like inheritance, using structs instead of hashes, garbage collection, exceptions, Minitest, and more.Even Ruby experts will enjoy this book as it's written in a direct, no-nonsense style and the items act as quick, handy reminders of things you knew but somehow forgot anyway.The only criticism the book could face is that the 48 items are a little arbitrary. They're bundled into groups, but I feel you could easily have several other books that followed the same format and covered different items. Maybe there'll be Effective Ruby 2, 3, and beyond around the corner? :-)

Victoria's Mary Ann Snowden was born on the West Coast in 1953 and returned to it in 1984 as a kayaking instructor and guide with Ocean River Sports. Do not waste your money on this rag. The grammar ranges from ok at times; to bad at times; then it goes all the way to horrible at times.A substantive amount of the technical references do not make sense. For example: "...main tribarrel turrets each accelerated four-ton shells to a meter per second..." It seems he is attempting to illustrate the enormous power of this weapon of war...But "a meter per second" translates to 2.237 miles/hour...Really!The writing is poor. Some paragraphs are so badly written that even after multiple readings they still do not make sense.The story appears to be taken directly off the pages of another SciFi book series--can we all say "John Ringo!" (Character name changes, it seems to me, is a failed attempt to make it "seem" different...This effort is juvenile! at best.)After reading 53% of the book I had to stop, as I felt like I was punishing myself. I fooled myself into believing it would get better...But it actually got worse.Save your money...Go buy a Starbucks coffee...Give your money to a homeless person...Do Not Waste your hard earned money on this rag.(In all fairness, if the writer used both a very, good proof reader and had an excellent, story editor they could make this story worth buying...Maybe!)

If I could leave a zero star review, I would. The writing style was mediocre at best. However, the really bad part is that the author ripped off his storyline and details from at least three other authors (Heinlein, Ringo and Kratman).Overwhelming alien horde filled with masses of idiot level animals led by a small percentage of more intelligent versions? Posleen from RingoSetting up a military based on ancient Rome but on alien worlds? Kratman already did it.Powered armor shot from tubes off of starships? Heinlein did it years ago.Nannited? RingoA corrupt human government on Earth looking to take over their long lost cousins? KratmanGiant multi thousand ton tanks? Ringo

The story, like all first books in a series, had some background up front but got through is superbly . The original Roman Legions kicked ass and didn't bother to take names. These future Romans are no different! I liked the characters, the story line, and the high tech version of ancient weapons.I am very much looking forward to the next episode.

Michael has written another rollicking story. It is well paced with great detail. The characters have a depth to them that engages the reader. The story and the background history meld perfectly together.It helps to read the preceding series but not vital. On the whole can’t recommend the book/ series high enough

The setting (roman legions in space) and the core plot point (the merging of man and machine into a sum more than its parts) is excellent. However, the execution is rushed, forcing the author to treat technology like nanites as magic solutions. It robs dramatic sequences of impact even though the writing itself is very polished. This could be an amazing story if the author split it into two books, fleshed them out and was a bit more realistic concerning technology development.

Mark Victor awakes in Legion space and is immediately involved in action, saving others and fighting aliens. When there is calm he meets his old Sergeant and it proceeds from there.A good book, full of action and possibilities that technology may allow.Looking forward to the next book.

I am a little biased I guess, I have loved all your books. I just have to say Mark is one of my favor characters. He shows all the emotions that we have been through for those that have been there. You really did well with him.
