I like the calendar pictures. The explore characters in pictures, some of which we have seen before, but that's to be expected. If it were just the calendar, I'd give it five stars.The so-called pop-up feature actually requires assembly - tab A into slot A - and it isn't easy to do. It also won't stay together, nor will it collapse as a pop-up book should. Disappointing in that regard.

I love it! I originally purchased the calender for the pop-up Diagon Alley piece, but was thrilled with the calender as well!!! The pages are spectacular, and I love the focus on one character!! It makes me excited to flip to each month! The pop-up Diagon Alley piece is amazing as well. It is definitely going to be a part of my decorations year round. In general, everything produced is put together and developed very well. Definitely looking forward to each month coming!

I was so happy that Amazon offered this product through retailers that had one or two of these special edition calendars remaining! I searched everywhere and should have known that Amazon was my best bet! I did have to pay more than double the cover price to get my hands on it, but it was worth it! I'll be sure to order 2015's calendar before year end to be sure I don't miss out!

This calendar has lots of photos both from the films and behind the scenes - too many! These squeeze the space for actual calendar. The squares on the calendar are too small to write many notes in. Even if that weren't a problem, the pages are too busy for my tastes.

For all the Harry Potter lovers out there this is great that we can still find items of that wonderful story to continue to purchase. This will be a Christmas gift. Always very happy to find anything HP.

So AMAZING!! I was so happy that I purchased this!! I love seeing the stills from the movies as the images coming together in a collage on each page! Very cool.

I love the calendar but the packaging was bad. The calendar was in a box too big for it along with two books that were bouncing about freely with nothing to hold them in place, so the calendar wound up with a bent corner but nothing earth shattering.It would have been nice if the sender would have stabilized them.

I love Harry Potter and this was a great calender with behind the scenes pictures and facts on it. The only bad thing is the fact that they left out some of the main characters and dedicated a whole month to smaller characters, like Slughorn.

From a little kid, Ms. Kondo discovered that we're not taught how to declutter: we're supposed to just slide into it. Our folks just tell us to clean our room...but don't show us how. For disorganized people like me, it's not intuitive what to do; I keep thinking that I have to be more logical. But the author turns that on its ear: she says trust your instincts--pick up a thing you've been clinging to for years and check if it gives you joy. If not, let it go. Yes, the more you get rid of stuff you don't love, the more you'll be able to see, use and enjoy the stuff you do.Please don't let these exploiting knock-off authors pull a fast one on you. Get the REAL book.

So... I thought I'd try it. I read the book, made sense and I jumped in and cleaned my closet and organized it the way the book describes. I've never, in my whole life been able to keep my closed organized. But its been over a year now and my closet has stayed tidy and organized! I honestly can't believe it. But this method works for me!

The person who wrote this missed a couple of the major points in this book. First, the focus is on JOY, not decluttering, and that is a major difference from other programs. The author totally missed the idea that you MUST do categories in order, and that you cannot change the program. Ms. Kondo is quite adamant about that. Komono is never mentioned in this summary, and the Shinto aspects, like greeting your home when you return, caring for objects, proper folding, are all left out of this summary. If I were giving it a grade, it would get a C. The positives are that it is short and concise.

It was a little repetitive. And even though Marie talks about the things she learned throughout her life, I don't know that all of the stories from her childhood were necessary.

This book is really a great partner in purging your things. Especially if like me you are quit attached to them. I recommend it to everyone I talk to.

If you wan to follow the plan, you really should buy the book. But I found it a bit repetitive and somewhat annoying in spots. But the method works if you follow it.

Disappointed.. thought I was downloading the book.. it's only (like it says) a summary though. Didn't help one bit.

I have found keeping what I love is very different than getting rid of what I don't use or like. Halved my wardrobe immediately. I also did not get the folding thing at first but I have done it with my socks and I feel like I am putting them down for a nap by folding her way!

On April 24, 2008, I was fortunate enough to see a mesmerizing production of "Twelve Angry Men," the professional Equity touring company of the Roundabout Theatre's 2004 rendering of the play. The road company starred Richard Thomas as Juror Number 8, but this play is an ensemble acting piece, not a single star vehicle. In the play the all-white jurors have no names:#1 is the foreman, a high school football coach #2-a fairly neutral guy whose kid has the mumps #3-sadistic, has had run-in with his own son, nasty, says of the defendant, "He's got to burn." #4-a methodical note-taker who wears glasses #5-grew up in the slums #6-an ordinary Joe, a house painter #7-rabid sports fan who wants to be at his ball game, will change his vote just to get out of the jury room #8-an architect, man who has doubts, has courage to buck the crowd, without his kind, justice would perish #9-an observant old man #10-a racist who spouts his venomous bias about "them" #11-an immigrant with a German accent who has more faith in democracy than some native-born Americans #12-an advertising man who goes along with the crowdJurors Numbers 3, 7, and 10 are the "bad guys." The jury is asked to render a death sentence verdict for a sixteen-year old troubled kid who is accused of killing his father. The first vote reveals eleven are in favor of a guilty verdict, and Juror Number Eight votes "not guilty" because he has doubts. The play is about the jurors' lack of understanding of the legal concept of "reasonable doubt." These are not impartial jurors. The boy's defense counsel did a poor job, but the jurors acted more on prejudice than on fair-mindedness. They were too quick to pull the switch on a human life. It's a melodrama in which everything happens too quickly. The audience has to suspend its disbelief for this play that was performed without an intermission when I saw it. The author uses gimmicks, but they work. Though the action of the play took place in 1954, it could take place today, because juries still haven't learned to grapple with "reasonable doubt."

You don't know their names. That's not important. You learn about their characters and their hearts. What they believe in the privacy of their own soul. All the prejudices. You find out who has the strength to not make it personal and to just concentrate on the facts. Dissect the facts and find out that even the facts are as questionable as the human heart. Well done!

I purchased this in order to produce this play in a community setting. Most of the shows my spouse and I had seen in this particular venue were light-hearted or comedic. We took actors we had not necessarily seen in serious roles and gave them a chance to take their talents to a new level. This show was definitely a hit. This was our first play to produce and we hope to do another one when the next season opens for a list of plays.

I love the neutrality of the 8th juror, and how he questions the evidence and testimonies of the witnesses. He doesn’t know, nor will he ever know what actually happened. He slowly but surely helps everyone to see that there’s a possibility (despite the boy’s upbringing and prejudice set against him) that he could actually be “innocent.” I love this play, I teared up at the final page.

Great book! Very helpful in learning to use App Inventor.

I highly recommend this book for parents, kids, role models (grandparents, aunts/uncles, mentors, teachers), but i also fully recommend it for any adult who would love to create something on their smartphone quickly and even experienced industry professionals so they can dream and invent. The authors have worked really hard not just to transmit knowledge (which they do well), but coming up with engaging challenges that can hook the attention and imaginations of young and old alike.As an adult, I am now a software architect, but have created with software since I was a young child, and now have children of my own. Creating software hooked my interest early, yet I have repeatedly tried to interest the kids in our family tree to create with software: every single experiment has failed. I even tried to get the oldest kids into App Inventor when I had early access years ago, but to my dismay, could not get them engaged. I specifically acquired this book to try again. By creating not just a readable book, but an excellent experience - the authors have helped me finally achieve this goal successfully.. and quite amazingly, with my four year old son. Plus, I had more fun creating software than I have in quite a long time, reminiscent of when I was a child.The obvious work they put into creating this book is why I give it such a high rating. At first glance, one may say it would be easy to write a great book on this topic because it is such a great subject/platform to teach: Google initially and MIT now have done a tremendous job in building something with App Inventor that allows children and anyone to create smartphone apps quickly and enjoyable. Yet, teaching this platform could be done in a number of different ways, ranging from pure boring rubbish all the way to a quality and engaging experience. The high edge of this scale is what the authors have achieved - they have obviously worked really hard in brainstorming ideas that would spark childlike imagination in kids, teenagers, adults, industry professionals, and obviously even themselves. The combination of the underlying platform and the author's delivery and creativity lead to this result: kids and adults alike can be creating smartphone apps with enjoyment in minutes thanks to their hard work. I have not seen any other book in my field do that with such speed - it is a testament to the technology and the authors work.I don't want to steal the book's thunder by revealing all of their clever 'app inventions' but just wanted to give a glimpse of the creative work they put in. In these experiences, the reader will learn about working with events of the touchscreen, clocks and timers, animations, sensing movement and the outside world, getting the phone to speak aloud or interpreting speech, connecting to the web and APIs, and knowing where in the world you are - but this is standard knowledge. The experiences will have kids creating games with making a sheep making sounds but getting scared when shaken, a spooky sound generator, a game for learning flinging/dragging/touching, recording dreams, a compass app that takes three minutes to make, and the list goes on and on, all the way up to a nice 'capstone' app inventor project - a full multi-level game at the end.I want to dive into specifics briefly rather than overarching statements: While teaching the core material, they kept explanations brief (for short attention spans, whatever age) and when they did explain something complex or novel (which abound in software), they came up with very creative analogies for relating the material (some that impressed me). Each chapter is conceptually related to achieving some goals with the new unlocked knowledge and then has several 'apps' that the reader can build and these can usually be done in only a few minutes (varies between 5 and 30 on average). These apps are where the biggest value of their work is: they obviously worked much harder than most authors in coming up with something that would truly engage their target audience (kids and the rest of us) and they truly succeeded, through nearly the entire book. Finally, they purposefully made their apps not 'complete' or 'perfect' and suggested ways to take their initial work further, either by using skills unlocked later in the book (inviting readers to come back to their previous puzzles) or by suggesting ways to make it better by using your own creativity. My son and I were able to brainstorm and play with nearly all of the apps to take them further in our own ways (for example, we always wanted an app icon, something they taught us early so we kept reusing).One final caveat: I thought about giving it 4.5 stars simply because the book isn't a work of utter perfection, but no book is. These things are minor - there are some editing errors (where incorrect properties are missed) or conventions aren't always followed - this will probably confuse some young readers, especially those who are old enough to take it on themselves. These are few in count though. The only other feedback I can offer is that the book dragged in a crucial part - where it was getting initial momentum. This is because it got caught up in the place where every single software teacher does - explaining the drudgery of conditions, loops, logic, and operators. I would have preferred they just mixed this in along the way and not went into this valley where they will certainly incur some casualties in lost readers (either metaphorically or actually). Yet, these comments are getting picky and suggesting further improvements for what I hope will be a future edition of the book (once App Inventor 3 comes out with I hope cross-compiling to iPhone, Windows Phone, and Android and touch enabled user interface for building apps) - all in all, a superb work!

This book is an excellent introduction to using the graphical programming language App Inventor to create apps for Android devices. The book's subtitle emphasizes that the book is meant for people of all ages. Its step-by-step approach with an abundance of full color illustrations supports this claim. The ubiquitous use of color draws the reader in and makes the book both interesting and entertaining. Color is absolutely necessary for accurately representing both the layouts of the screen elements and the manipulations of the underlying graphical blocks that animate the programs. The authors have done a superb job here and the care that was taken is evident throughout the book.The authors walk the reader through the creation of 35 apps using a step-by-step approach. These apps exercise a significant number of the interactive features present on Android devices. The associated graphical and sound resources needed to create the apps are provided as a download by the authors on the publisher's web site.Unfortunately, this is one area where the authors' attention to detail stumbled. This reviewer used the book to create nine of the apps from scratch. Instances of missing or misnamed files disrupted what should have been a smooth process. In addition, some of the audio files were provided in a format that this reviewer's Samsung device refused to play, displaying an error message during execution instead. Since this book is targeted at novice programmers, more care should have been taken in providing these files to avoid situations where readers would encounter errors and unpredictable behavior that are not a result of actions on their part.With that said, this reviewer highly recommends this book to anyone wanting to create apps for Android devices. The book is well done and is an excellent resource for learning about the App Inventor environment.This reviewer used a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0" running Android 4.4.2 during the review.

I wanted to love this book. Christian Hosoi was such a massive star to me when I was 8. The book surprised me in curious and bizarre ways. Despite his high profile, I was astounded at the voice of the book: 'i'm this, i'm that, i'm the best at this, i'm the ...'. It seemed like a treatise to his ego.Part one of this book: Hosoi smokes a lot of weed. He smokes more than everyone else. Christian Hosoi get the best chicks. He gets any chick he wants, any time he wants. He's (almost) the best skater in the world. Even Hosoi indirectly admits Hawk is winning more. Hosoi gets into meth. He is amazed that he doesn't die because he does so much meth he rarely sleeps. He rents a huge house in the hills. Did I mention he smokes a lot of weed and gets the best chicks? He also skates a lot.During part one there is a hugely inspiring passage where one of the guests staying in his house sees him, early in the morning, walking around his backyard in a towel (post shower). He grabs a board and has a massive session when he thinks no one is watching. The passage describes one of the best sessions this guy has ever seen - while Hosoi thinks no one is watching.Part two: he goes to jail. He finds God. He gets out early. He becomes a preacher.Part three: he performs exorcisms...Skateboarding was everything to me as a kid. I'm unsure I can say I'm glad I read this book but it was surprising.

Just an incredibly compelling read. I'm a 64-yr-old white woman who was skateboarding for fun in Studio City, Calif in 1965 2 years before this kid was born. Now I'm semi-retired and living in Houma, La where we have been trying to get a skatepark for the kids here for 9 years. We finally succeeded. Construction has just begun. Christian's story is so relevant today not only for the continued interest in skateboarding but because of the drugs which have damaged more lives than Hurricane Katrina ever did. I've seen his drug abuse story repeatedly in my community and the heartbreak it has caused so many families. I was amazed at the details of his descent into harder and harder drugs. His memories are so vivid and his "reasoning" so intriguing it made me understand addiction like I never could before. It should be required reading in every high school.I'm glad I read the book with all it's great detail before I saw the award-winning documentary, RISING SON. Having all that background was an advantage while watching the DVD.

Hosoi's life and career have a lot of elements we've seen in art / sports / and literature.His battles with Tony Hawk are the great the kind of manifestation of head vs heart, preparation vs improvisation, and brains vs balls, kind of like the great battles between Nicki Lauda and James Hunt in "Rush".Then we have the kind of "Behind the Music" story where Boy has Talent, Boy has No control or oversight, and Boy crashes and burns. As the book reminds us, 70's and 80's skaters were statistically overrepresented in this bucket, with too many of them winding up dead before their times, in prison, or living under a bridge. Thankfully for Christian, when he was at his lowest point he took up an offer he couldn't refuse and wound up with more than he ever lost.The book is a good narrative. I agree with a couple of the other readers about some of the transitions being a little choppy, especially when they bring in commentary from other skaters and peers. The dates seem to jump around a bit, but I just figure that's what you get when your narrator's been a stoner for more of his life than when he was sober. All in all, these two nits don't detract from an awesome story.The only bad part is that most of the guys that would benefit the most from it won't be open minded to read it.

I thought this was a good book, not great, as Hosoi seemed to be coming off as a bit of a bragger, but what ruined it for me was the way it changed at the end. I don't want to give away the details and ruin it for someone looking to read it, but I was more interested in the skateing and lifestyle aspect of Hosoi, not his changes during/after prison. It came across a bit preachy to me.

Purchased for my husband who used to love skateboarding (almost went pro) but got caught up on Meth and started committing crimes. He had to put it down a couple of times because the feelings Christian wrote about the drug abuse connected my hubby to realize he was doing the same in his own use of drugs and he has now looked towards faith himself to become a better healthier man and to overcome his addiction.

I could not out this book down! I have loaned this book out and it I wouldn't have done that right away I would have read it again. It was such a neat book showing God's love and grace extends To all of us. Now I keep looking for another book this good. Best autobiography I have ever read. And I love autobiographies.

Being an old school skater from the 80's and 90's I found this book to be a GREAT read. I have always loved Hosoi for his innovations and radical skating skills and was devistated when I learned what had happend to him when he got busted for meth. I can really relate to him and his discovery of faith. This book has been a great revalation for me and I could not put it down once I started to read it from cover to cover in about a day. Captavating story a MUST read!!!!

So I'm blown away watching this guy fly in and out of the key hole at the Del Mar Skate Ranch around 86 or so? and asking my buddy "who is this guy" he says', that's Hosoi! crazy unh! I'm kind of glad I knew what the outcome of this book would be before I started to read it just for the simple fact I don't like the all to famillar "tragic ending" when drug addiction is mentioned and not really wanting to relive my own 15 year meth addiction. But Hosoi shares his story of "rock star type excess" and being on top of his game for a few years and then to a high speed downward dive of meth addiction and prison life to being reborn again to a place in life he truly belongs. Great read, great story and helping to change lives for the better along the way thru Jesus Christ! Awesome!! 4.5 stars!!

The 5 star reviews must be bought because there was no portion of this book worthy. Wish there had been honest reviews or I wouldn't have wasted my time. The "boss/dom" is weak, in and out of the bedroom. Esp the bedrom. How can you even claim this as a Dom. Unsure of himself in the ONE place he claimed he needed to be in control and weak/indecisive everywhere else. You can't just call your character something and then not back it up in word or deed. Made it impossible to read. The mafia story line was useless. No one THAT uninformed would ever be put in charge and no mob boss would allow heir "heir" to be that nieve.

The Story was great that I love it

Ryder has been living in NYC, he gets notified that his dad has died. Ryder reads the will and finds out he has been left in charge of the Rainieri Enterprises. Adriana has been working for Rainieri Enterprises for a year under Paolo Rainieri. When she finds out he died she went into the office to see what she could do. She saw Ryder reading the will. Everybody thought that Adriana was Paolo’s Mistress but she wasn’t. Mama Rainieri hates her and wants her dead. Giovanni wants her. Ryder has been looking for a Sub for a long time. He takes Adriana to his playroom and she finally discovered why everybody enjoys sex so much, she has found her place. Ryder is so thrilled about how well Adriana fits in with his life. At the funeral Mama and Giovanni deposed Ryder from the head of the family. Adriana is threatened by both Mama and Giovanni. Will Ryder and Adriana be able to get to the truth of what has been happening? Will Ryder ever get control of the family? Will Ryder and Adriana be able to continue their play?I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is an excellent, dark mafia romance and I found it to be absolutely fascinating and pleasure to read.It is about: a new mob boss (Ryder) who is finally able to claim the feisty woman (Adriana) now that his father is deceased and can no longer protect her but his enemies are hiding in the shadows, watching and waiting for him to make a mistake.There is: a conniving brother (Giovanni), a manipulative mother, intrigue, suspense, twists & turns, some action, danger, enemies, family issues, secrets, deceit, lies, memories, misconceptions, anger, attractions, some BDSM, domination/submission, threats, ambition, betrayal, revenge, evidence, drugs, murder, human trafficking, manipulations, evil, confessions, abduction, conflict, death, passion, love, happiness & steamy scenes.The story-line and plot is well-thought out and written, it definitely keeps the reader’s attention. The characters are quite well-developed with individual personalities and react with realistic emotional feelings. I really enjoyed reading this mafia romance and would recommend it.“I received a complimentary copy, and this is my honest opinion”

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. This was definitely a dark, dark mafia romance. Ryder had been chosen by his deceased father, Paolo, to run the Ranieri mob family, even though he had nothing to do with it. The younger brother Giovanni was the one who had been trained and involved. Adriana had been Don Paolo's assistant for years and Mama Ranieri swore there was an affair(although there wasn't). Ryder has been looking for a submissive to meet his Dominant needs and has had absolutely no luck until he meets Adriana when he senses a connection. So not only does he needs her expertise to learn the business during the day, but he needs her submission at night. This book has some heavy sex-related scenes with BDSM overtones, power exchange. There are quite a few and I love dirty, sexy scenes but these border on overkill?? Just saying. Otherwise the book is great with sex, manipulation, betrayals, predators, fear, intensity, right and more!! You get really involved!!

After the death of his father Paolo, Ryder find himself in charge of a business he never wanted Rainieri Enterprises. Adriana has been working for the company, but she finds herself in the crossfire as Paolo’s wife wants her gone, Ryder wants her to be his sub and Ryder’s brother Giovanni just wants her and all she wants is a job to support her father.This story takes you on a wild ride full of suspense, twists and drama. This was a fabulous read. Ryder is looking for the perfect submissive and has almost given up hope. He is called home after his father's passing and discovers he's been left in charge of Rainieri Enterprises his father's company. When he meets Adriana his father's PA there is an instant attraction and connection between them. Has Ryder finally found his perfect submissive? I really enjoyed this book. It was well written and had an engaging storyline. The characters were well developed and had amazing chemistry. This is definitely a must read that will keep you turning the pages. Highly recommend. I voluntarily received an advanced arc copy for an honest review.

Ryder has lost hope of finding the perfect submissive, and when he is called home as his father has passed, he meets Adriana, who is his deceased fathers PA. These two are instantly drawn to each other. No spoilers; this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a well written flawless story from this talented author, and is filled with action, drama, betrayal, and is a gritty and sexy read. I was totally captivated throughout. I highly recommend this authors’ work for all readers.I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy for an honest review!

The book was well written and contains lots of good advice on sleep patterns - but was almost entirely focused on narcolepsy.

Didn't deal with issues

This was actually a fascinating book about the hard science of sleep - all the way to the gene and chromosome level of certain sleep disorders. Other than the first chapter and last chapter, the traditional setup and summary, the remaining 10 chapters cover the hard science of sleep - everything from how light plays a large part in our circadian rhythm cycles to exactly how the current thinking on most sleep disorders was discovered by studying dogs. The *one* caution here is that if you come in looking for a quick pointer or two on how to sleep better... well, you'll get that. But you'll get the hard science explanation of *why* it is, rather than a short and sweet "do this, just do it". Excellent book, very thoroughly researched - the last 24% or so is bibliography and index!

The author suffers from narcolepsy and frequently falls asleep at inappropriate times. He relates his own story and states that the average time before narcolepsy diagnosis is 15 years. However, Sleepyhead goes further than just narcolepsy. It also contains the possible reasons for other sleep disorders like SCN or the molecular circuit that controls when your body wants to sleep and rise. Many people do not have a 24-hour cycle meaning that they go to sleep and rise at variable times each day. Even moving your bedtime by 15 minutes per day either earlier or later makes a large difference over the course of a year. The book also discusses seasonal effective disorder and insomnia as well as the impact of daylight savings time on a body’s sleep cycle.The best part of the book for me was the author’s note at the end that tells readers how to find more information about their particular sleep issue. In addition, Sleepyhead has comprehensive end notes referencing all the sources of the information in the book. The end notes make up 20% of the book. Sleepyhead is a great resource for the sleep-challenged among us. 4 stars!Thanks to Perseus Books and NetGalley for an advance copy.

Nicholls uses his experience as backdrop to explore the neuroscience of disordered sleep, which is a gripping trip. He introduces us to the realms of insomnia (I’ve lived in that chronically tired state), sleep apnea (sufferers nearly suffocate as they stop breathing during sleep), and his own kingdom of chronic narcolepsy, among other forms of sleephead-hood. We learn why some of us love mornings and others hate them, how sleep habits change through aging, the when of REM sleep stages, and the importance of dreaming. Henry Nicholls shares his own experience living with narcolepsy and helps clarify the nature, course, and treatment of the disorder. He also creatively weaves in the rich, provocative stories of others who live with sleep-wake disorders, as well as a number of scientists who have helped explain and treat these disorders. While the focus is predominantly on narcolepsy, comorbidity rules among the sleep-wake disorders. Hence, Sleepyhead also details the nature, cause, and treatment of a number of other sleep-wake disorders.As an educator, the book's stories are particularly helpful to deepen my understanding of these disorders and the supporting research. Fast read about excessive sleep disorders. I saw this book at my neighborhood library. Interesting science of sleep. The book devotes a lot of space to narcolepsy. I happened to be interested in trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep. There were good resources listed at the end of the book.

The author did a brilliant job of writing about the different categories of sleep disorders and how genes and other factors can contribute to the development of them. This was a fascinating read with tons of relevant information!

I enjoyed this one, and not much to pick apart, except the overuse of Sardonic - I like the word, but seeing it in print too many times, it sticks out.The thing that I enjoy the most I believe from this series so far is that Karrde is the rogue character that Han Solo was BEFORE *A New Hope* - Lando and Han become more of ex-rogues, which is not as much fun - legitimate thieves and all - Karrde is still a thief, and he plays both sides well to his advantage - and I enjoy that.I wish that I did not know who Mara Jade was before reading this - that coming surprise is ruined, but the actions and dialog between her and Luke are still enjoyable, and this is a series that I can finally be happy to have started, and now I am on my way to finishing.This would be a great arena for the new Star Wars films, but I know that everything in print now is non-canon; so we will have to wait and see what the future holds. But for now, I am enjoying the series.

I liked Heir to the Empire, but this one was even better. Timothy Zahn nailed it here with my favorite ending in the series.I started reading these again after 20 years because I have been so disappointed in the Disney sequel trilogy. There is definitely stuff that doesn't jive with the prequel trilogy released a few years after these books were released, but it's pretty easy to correct "Dark Jedi" with "a secret Sith apprentice" in your mind as you read.This was the Star Wars trilogy they should have made into film and I wish Zahn would revisit this series and correct some verbage to make it match the prequel terminology a bit. I'd totally buy these again if he did.

I have been a fan of Timothy Zahn since I read Thrawn Trilogy in the 90s. Ive decided to read it again. Like the first book, Zahn did a good job in writing the story. Each chapter has a climax and a goo plot to it. In each page, Zahn puts in a lot of detail in the story. And briefly describes each character, and has specific scenes for each character. It a work of art. It doesn't stop there.

The second of Timothy's Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy picks up almost immediately after the Empire's thwarted attack at the Sluis Van Shipyards but immediately launches the characters back into action. With the New Republic maintaining its tenuous position as the new major government in the galaxy, the Empire is still pushing to regain it's former position. Timothy Zahn brings an action-packed novel that has a mix of cannon and original characters that are so strongly written they feel like real people.

Reading this book genuinely captures the feeling of the Original movies. You feel like your watching a movie even though your reading a book. A page turner in every way!

Years after the original Star Wars Trilogy movies it was fun to revisit these three characters. Obviously, I could not help but to see the actors faces while reading this story. Timothy Zahn captured the screen essence of each of them so incredibly well and Thrawn may be the most brilliantly evil character ever introduced. I waited this long to read this trilogy simply because I did not want to be disappointed but the most disappointing thing was missing the opportunity to check in on them until so many years later. Whether the original films were seen in the theater (as I did) or seen on DVD or BluRay years later (as I have) this series continues the legacy and is well worth the investment. May the Force be with us all.

This book picks up after Heir to the Empire and follows the exploits of Luke, Leia, Chewie, and Han as they attempt to rebuild the Republic after the questionable defeat of the Empire at the battle of Endor. We follow the storylines of our main characters as they are harassed by political infighting and a brilliant tactician from the remenants of the Empire, Grand Admiral Thrawn.It's an awesome read that shows a lot of additional character development (especially for Leia and Han, something that was lacking in the Luke-centric movie trilogy) and answers many of the questions of what happens after the defeat of the Emperor.

In the first audio book, "Heir to the Empire", the story was read by Denis Lawson (Wedge Antilles), who did a credible job. With Anthony Daniels (C3PO) things have improved considerably. Daniels has a much better reading voice. He has great voice characterizations allowing the reader to easily keep the many characters straight. Once again the special effects are excellent (blaster fire, star ship engines, etc.). The audio is crisp and clear in a car environment. Timothy Zahn continues the story of the fledgling New Republic. Admiral Thrawn (of the Empire) is the last surviving Grand Admiral, and his plans to bring down the New Republic are slowly culminating. In addition to that threat the NR has also to deal with a new Dark Jedi. Zahn does a great job with the old "wheel within a wheel" type story. There are several (but not too many) threads running through the book that make it very entertaining and keep you longing for more. Well worth the purchase price (I can't add anything more to the publisher's review). Run time: 180 minutes.

I am loving this series. The second book is excellent. The author has captured the essence of each character perfectly. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I recommend this series to all Star Wars fans.
